This past week has been a busy one for our mobile vet team out in Egypt. They’ve encountered a number of challenges, like dealing with cracked hooves and a case of a donkey with a head wound.
We’ve included a selection of photos below to show you the essential treatment they have provided, all funded by your support. It’s only with your donations we can continue to improve the lives of these hardworking donkeys.

News from Egypt
This poor donkey was suffering from a head wound when our vet team arrived at the kiln. Dr Shaaban gave him a full examination to check for dehydration and also checking his vital signs.
The donkey was given anti-inflammatories and antibiotics for three days and we’re pleased to say he’s now made a full recovery.
During a visit to another kiln this donkey (below) was found to be lame. Dr Shaaban and the vet team x-rayed his leg to check the carpal joint.
Following the x-ray, Dr Shaaban diagnosed osteophytes (bony spurs). The good news for the donkey is these bony spurs will not cause any issues because the spaces between the joints were otherwise normal.
As the donkey had soft tissue swelling in the right knee, Dr Shaaban was able to prescribe anti-inflammatories. The donkey also received treatment for a hoof abscess, with the owner instructed to rest him for five days.
