Amid the rubble and chaos of Gaza, our mobile team continue to perform small miracles, offering treatment, often by the side of the road, to sick and injured donkeys and horses.
Their life-saving work continues to be needed now more than ever.
As you will have seen, donkeys have become so important in Gaza, where fuel is scarce and, when available, priced beyond the reach of most locals. Donkeys are often also the only way of navigating roads strewn with rubble and debris – ferrying families to safety and transporting essential food and medicine.
As it turns out, donkeys also transport other donkeys!
News from Gaza
In recent weeks, a foal lying sick on the flat bed of a cart arrived at the mobile clinic, pulled by a larger animal. The foal was suffering with parasitic worms, which were causing diarrhoea and severe weight loss.
This poor little donkey was close to severe malnutrition and dehydration, and would not have survived without immediate medical attention. The team quickly administered an anti-parasitic drug and some much-needed fluids, and will check up on her in the coming days.
Donkeys are needed more than ever in Gaza – they are absolutely vital to everyday life.
By helping us treat that foal, you have saved the life of a donkey who would otherwise have got so sick, she would have died.
For the foal’s owner, the treatment has also been life-saving.
The little animal has survived and in time, can support the man’s family – transporting essentials, or carrying them to safety in the event of an attack. In war-torn Gaza, this can mean the difference between life and death.
And it’s not just donkeys, mules and horses that the team are helping in Gaza.
Our team will never turn away an animal in need – here they help a small kitten.
Thank you for supporting our mobile team in Gaza – you are amazing.
Thank you ♥️♥️
It’s only with your help we are able to improve the lives of working donkeys, mules and horses in the West Bank, Gaza and Egypt. You’re also helping to fund our hospital in Nablus in the West Bank and care for our rescue donkeys in Arrana, as well as our donkeys at our sanctuary in Israel.
Thanks to your support we can now provide emergency veterinary care to foals like this. Thank you so much for caring.
