Here in the UK we’ve been lucky to have some much-need sunshine this week. It really feels like spring is in the air.
And over at our Sanctuary in Israel, we’ve been welcoming a new arrival – who we’ve called Graham, in memory of a very special person.
Graham was left outside our Sanctuary gates a couple of weeks ago, and now he’s officially a resident, we’re very pleased to tell you his story today.
Thank you so much for caring and supporting our work. It’s only with your help we can rescue donkeys like Graham.

News from Israel
We’d like to introduce you to a new resident today – called Graham. This friendly donkey was found just outside the Sanctuary gates on 19th February, as if he instinctively knew he was finally somewhere safe.
Graham was found abandoned outside our Sanctuary gates
Our team reached out to the local community, hoping to find someone who might know where Graham had come from. But no one came forward. Heartbreakingly, it seems he was abandoned.
For now, Graham is being looked after in isolation, while we can ensure he’s healthy, to protect the rest of our herd.
Graham is getting to know his new home
Our vet, Dr Eliran, has given him a thorough examination and this Sunday, he’ll undergo castration – an important step to help him live peacefully alongside the rest of the herd.
Once we’re sure he’s fighting fit, we can begin the process of introducing our lovely new boy to the herd, and his forever family here at the Sanctuary.
We’ll look forward to telling you more about Graham in the coming months as he settles in with the herd
Graham has already shown us what a sweet and friendly soul he is – it’s as if he knew Safe Haven was exactly where he belonged. And thanks to your kindness, we were able to welcome him with open arms, giving him a safe, warm home, with plenty of tasty hay, and the gentle care he so deserves.
Thank you ♥️♥️
It’s only with your help we are able to improve the lives of working donkeys, mules and horses in the West Bank, Gaza and Egypt. You’re also helping to fund our hospital in Nablus in the West Bank and care for our rescue donkeys in Arrana, as well as our donkeys at our sanctuary in Israel.
The rescue donkeys at the Sanctuary receive everything they need – food, veterinary care, and a loving forever home. All thanks to your support.
