On 13th March, our team lost most of their medications and some vital equipment in a devastating missile strike that flattened the entire area.
In the weeks that followed, the response to our emergency appeal was incredibly moving. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’ve already been able to start replacing what was lost.

News from Gaza
Our vet team in Gaza have to overcome immense challenges every day, and the unwavering dedication of our supporters helps them to provide vital care to animals across the region.
Thanks to your support our team have already been able to replace the following medications and equipment:
- Scissors & bandage cutters
- Syringes & needles
- Wound cleaning kits including saline, iodine, and antiseptic spray
- Dressing & bandages
- Tweezers & forceps
- Hoof knives, hoof nippers and a farrier hammer
- Tooth rasps
- A strong folding table – for treatment and organising supplies – plus examination mat
- Medical supply boxes and first aid bags
- Hand sanitiser, disinfectant, face masks and gloves
- Uniforms: vests and jackets with the Safe Haven logo, plus rain coats
- Fuel – despite being very expensive we have purchased this for urgent calls, night operations, and immediate evacuation needs
To us, every life matters – we’re helping as many animals as well can, and thanks to you we are able to continue our work in Gaza.
Some essential items have proven much more difficult to source locally:
- Stethoscopes and thermometers for basic diagnostics.
- Portable tarpaulin to provide shelter for staff, animals, and equipment – and to help visibly mark our mobile clinic as we move between locations.
- Torches and headlamps (with batteries) to allow treatment during night operations and power outages.
- Basic vehicle tools and a spare tyre to help keep our car running.
We’re doing all we can to locate and secure these items, knowing how critical they are to our work on the ground helping donkeys and horses. We will update you on progress.
Your support has helped us to replace lost equipment and medications
Right now, our mobile clinic is operating in one of the most dangerous areas of Gaza – just 400 to 500 metres from tanks, heavily armed troops, and bulldozers.
Our team just want to continue helping donkeys and horses.
The situation is incredibly tense and unpredictable but despite the risks, our team are determined to continue responding to desperate calls for help from donkey and horse owners with no one else to turn. These animals are innocent, caught in the chaos, and we are committed to being there for them.
Thank you ♥️♥️
It’s only with your help we are able to improve the lives of working donkeys, mules and horses in the West Bank, Gaza and Egypt. You’re also helping to fund our hospital in Nablus in the West Bank and care for our rescue donkeys in Arrana, as well as our donkeys at our sanctuary in Israel.
Thanks to you our Gaza team have been able to replace most of their lost medication and equipment, to continue providing care to animals in need.
