Our donkey update – 30th January 2025

Dr Rakan and Nour were at our rescue centre in Arrana this week, checking the donkeys’ health, trimming hooves, and handing out some treats!

Dr Rakan has shared some photos with us – I do hope you enjoy seeing them. The donkeys all look so happy in their forever home!

Thank you so much for all your support to our donkeys and vet teams.

News from Arrana, the West Bank

Many of our rescue donkeys at Arrana have suffered terribly before they arrived in our care, so we’re so pleased we can provide them with all the love and care they need in their forever home.

Here you can see Nour giving the residents a hoof trim, assisted by Mahmoud who oversees the day to day running of our rescue centre.

Hoof trims are vital to keep the donkeys healthy and happy

Blondie is just one of our donkeys who was saved by Dr Rakan. He was very close to death when Dr Rakan found him lying in an alley. He was so badly injured he couldn’t even stand up, and was dangerously dehydrated. Now this eight year old donkey is thriving at our rescue centre in Arrana.

Blondie’s life is now transformed – and he has a comfortable and safe forever home

Rakan was another donkey who had suffered terribly when Dr Rakan found him. His ear had been set alight and was so badly injured, it had to be amputated.

But look at him now! As you can see he’s happy to see his friend Dr Rakan – particularly as he has carrot treats!

As you can see below, the donkeys are so happy and content at the rescue centre – which is only able to provide this care thanks to you.

Thank you for all your support helping to care for donkeys like Rakan, Blondie and Kay.

Thank you ♥️♥️

It’s only with your help we are able to improve the lives of working donkeys, mules and horses in the West Bank, Gaza and Egypt. You’re also helping to fund our hospital in Nablus in the West Bank and care for our rescue donkeys in Arrana, as well as our donkeys at our sanctuary in Israel.

Our Rescue Centre in Arrana is home to 34 donkeys – including Kay – who receive the best of care, thanks to you.
